About DevConsensus
DevConsensus is an independent site that ranks AI coding tools and models by what working developers say about them in public Hacker News comments.
What we do
Benchmarks test models in a lab and many reviews are sponsored. We take a different source: 20,064 Hacker News comments from Nov 2025 – Nov 2026, read and tagged so you can see how developers who use these tools rate them, what they praise, what they complain about and what they switch to. The methodology page explains every step.
Who runs it
DevConsensus is a small independent project. It is not affiliated with Hacker News, Y Combinator or any tool vendor, and no vendor can pay for a ranking or a review.
How it is funded
Some “Visit” links may become referral links. Rankings are computed before any link is attached and are never changed for a partner.
